As a seasoned farmer that came up through the internship model, I can’t emphasize enough the importance of finding good farmer mentors for individuals looking for an agricultural education. The experience gained through working a season on functional farm can propel a new farmer further and faster than any other model I’ve witnessed.

My 5 year old boys had such a great time

We had my son's birthday party at Good Pickin' Farm, and it was wonderful. We had a hay ride, which even the kid who was initially scared at the idea came to enjoy, and then the kids got to pet and feed the chickens and ducks and look for eggs.

I always wanted to own farmlands.

The income prospect is immense in the field. But I know nothing about farming in practice. I thought of hiring workers but I didn't trust that they wouldn't steal my harvest. Urban Farmers managed the whole situation so I could have the best of both worlds.

As the mom of a toddler we go to A LOT of farms, and many of them are great, but this one is by far the best. They have so many animals, and a variety of simple but really cool preschool activities (goat hikes, holding baby chicks and goats, petting therapy alpacas, planting basil in the green house, etc.). The staff are so kid friendly. This farm is easy to get to, in a beautiful location.

I grew up in the city, so the busy life is all I knew

My vacations were always in nature-oriented places though. I became fond of the peace and quiet and fresh air that was available 24/7. These projects by Urban farmers really helped me get back those vacations within a few kms of the city.
